FIRM PROFILE

Focal PLLC was founded by lawyers who have experience working at established law firms and as in-house counsel. Its founding lawyers also have entrepreneurial experience. This experience forms the basis of the firm's philosophy. The firm recognizes the importance of diligent legal work. As in-house counsel, we have dealt with legal bills and understand how the billable hour and multiple lawyer model for legal services can send costs spiraling out of control. As entrepreneurs, we understand the role of legal services and that business people are looking for business-oriented solutions to legal matters.

What makes us unique? First, we value efficiency, and minimize unnecessary overhead and costs. For example, we don't have expensive office space, and can pass on these savings to the client. Second, we embrace technologies that have made practicing law more efficient. Finally, we are not beholden to the billable hour. We like to align our success with our client's success and will try to come up with a billing structure that best accomplishes this goal. A final note – we understand the value of specialization, and in this vein, there are things we don't do. For example, we don't handle securities offerings, patent prosecution, or complex tax matters. Our practice is focused on transactions or disputes involving internet, media, or technology companies and on addressing the day-to-day needs of these types of companies.
